About Me — The Story Behind Adreame of Vegan
Adreame of Vegan grew directly from the health needs of myself, my family, and then my community. My journey started with becoming more conscious of what I was consuming — and what it was or wasn’t doing for my body. I had been vegetarian for eight years before transitioning to vegan, but even then, I knew I wasn’t at my optimal health. That curiosity, that urge to feel better, led me deeper into research, documentaries, and a fuller understanding of food’s power.
At the time, my daughter was four. She was born vegetarian, and together we transitioned to a fully plant-based lifestyle. I learned how to cook new dishes for her — meals where I could control the salt, avoid sugar and preservatives, and be incredibly intentional about what I was putting into her body. As she grew, so did I. And now, as a mother of two, my purpose has only become clearer: everything I feed my children, my community, and myself must be rooted in wellness, clarity, and love.
Family and friends began noticing the changes in our health and asked me to cook for them too. That small ripple became the foundation of my meal-prep business — which continued to grow, expand, and eventually evolve into Adreame of Vegan, my full plant-based catering, wholesale soup line, and wellness brand. I am forever grateful to everyone who supported, believed, and continues to walk with me on this journey.
Activism Through Food. Healing Through Intention.
Adreame of Vegan was also born from the activist in me — the part of my spirit that wants to truly do my part in healing my people. Disease is still one of the leading causes of death for African Americans, and so much of it is tied directly to what we consume. My purpose is to feed people homecooked health — meals made with intention, herbs, roots, plants, and ancestral wisdom.
When you cook from a place of love, the food is better.
When you infuse that love with healing and wellness, the food becomes medicine.
This is the gift I believe everyone deserves in life.
I was born in California, and the cuisine there deeply shaped the way I cook — the Mexican, Vietnamese, Thai, and fresh produce-forward flavors of the West Coast are part of my foundation.
When I moved to New York at 19, I became bi-coastal and stepped into a whole new world of culinary influence. New York didn’t just introduce me to global cuisines — it reconnected me with my own family’s cultural foods.
With a Chinese and Grenadian mother and a Panamanian father, I found myself immersed in the richness of my heritage. Living in New York allowed me to dive even deeper into:
● Caribbean cuisines (Grenadian, Jamaican, Trinidadian, Haitian)
● Chinese traditions and flavor profiles
● Panamanian and broader Afro-Latin dishes
● Indian, Dominican, Mediterranean, Ethiopian, and West African cuisines
● Countless cultural food communities thriving across the city
Along this journey, I also discovered one of my greatest gifts:
I have almost a photographic memory for taste. I can try something once and pinpoint the exact flavors, spices, and ingredients — then replicate it, elevate it, and add my own twist. That intuitive relationship with flavor has shaped the way I cook and create today.
All of this — my Caribbean, Asian, Afro-Latina, Cali, and New York influences — shows up in my herbs, my spices, my heat, my freshness, and the way I build flavor from the foundation up.
My goal is to give the respect and the spotlight back to plants, making them the majority of the plate. I want to satisfy your taste buds and help heal your body. It’s not Adreame to have both.
